BACKGROUND

Mrs. Black graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration or minor in Math for grades 6-9.

WHY IS SCIENCE IMPORTANT TO THE EDUCATIONAL FORMATION OF YOUTH?

Science is all around us, waiting to be discovered every single day. Whether you are cooking, hiking, bandaging a scrape, watching a sunset, or visiting a zoo—science is right there. Every student deserves the chance to explore the sciences to see how beautifully they connect with every aspect of life. Cultivating curiosity, experimenting, and exploring are powerful ways to dive deeper into the wonder of the world God created for us.

WHY ARCHANGELS ACADEMY?

Archangels Academy is a beautiful family that I've been a part of for a few years through volunteering, and I am beyond excited to join on as a staff member this year! Working within the school is always a blessing and I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to be more present on campus.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BRING TO THE STUDENTS OF ARCHANGELS ACADEMY?

Pope St. John Paul II beautifully stated that "God made us for joy." Sometimes the adolescent years can feel overwhelming, I hope to instill in my students the virtues of charity, fortitude, and patience. Archangels Academy already possesses such a vibrant, joyful atmosphere, and I look forward to contributing to that spirit by bringing genuine cheerfulness, smiles, and laughter into the hallways and my classroom.

 

HOW IS YOUR FAITH INTEGRATED INTO YOUR CLASSROOM AND SCIENCE?

Faith and science are harmonious. Through experiments, discussions, and critical thinking, my hope is that my students can appreciate and have more understanding of God's intricate design of life and ultimately know He is the divine architect.
