Mr. Jeremy Ruston

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Coming Soon.webp

BACKGROUND

Mr. Ruston grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He and his wife Krista have 2 girls that attend Archangels Academy and a newborn baby boy! He has a  bachelor's degree in Psychology from Columbia College of Missouri and a masters degree in Recreation and sport science from Ohio University.  He is a competitive runner as well as a long time coach.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family.

WHY IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION IMPORTANT TO THE EDUCATIONAL FORMATION OF YOUTH?

Physical Education is important to the educational formation of youth because it contributes to their physical, mental, social, and emotional development, helping them become well-rounded individuals.  Exercise is linked to lower stress and anxiety.  It can improve mood, self-confidence, and overall emotional health.  PE teaches discipline, responsibility, perseverance, fair play, and sportsmanship. Students learn how to handle both success and failure constructively.  By exposing students to a variety of physical activities, PE helps them discover enjoyable forms of exercise that they can continue throughout adulthood.

WHY ARCHANGELS ACADEMY?

I am excited to join Archangels Academy because of its strong commitment to Catholic education, faith formation, and the development of the whole student. I look forward to being part of a school community that values academic excellence, virtue, and a Christ-centered approach to learning.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BRING TO THE STUDENTS AT ARCHANGELS ACADEMY?

I hope to bring enthusiasm, consistency, and a genuine care for each student. I want my classes to be places where students experience joy, healthy competition, and personal growth. As an educator in the Catholic tradition, I hope to help students understand that excellence is not just about winning or athletic ability, but about striving to become the best version of themselves, using their God-given talents to serve others and glorify God.

HOW IS YOUR FAITH INTEGRATED INTO YOUR CLASSROOM AND PE?

I teach students that physical activity is an opportunity to develop virtue, including perseverance, temperance, fortitude, humility, and charity. By fostering good sportsmanship, respect for teammates and opponents, and gratitude for the abilities God has given us, I hope to help students grow in character as well as physical fitness.
